Hey friend,

My name’s Bayardo, and I’m a queer, latino, son-of-a-bad hombre (Trump’s words, not mine).

And this Hispanic Heritage Month, I’m saying “fuck it” to conventional wisdom. 

I’m taking a side… I’m mixing business & politics… 

Because I’ve vowed to always do my best to find the courage to speak the truth.

And the truth is Trump has been convincing his supporters that immigrants are a danger to America since the start of his campaign. 

The truth is he’s mercilessly ordered for children to be separated from their families.

The truth is he now hopes to strip benefits from LEGAL immigrants,  make it harder than ever to become a legal citizen of the United Sates, and even REVOKE citizenships…

And the truth is, if you don’t want to do business with me because of this, then I don’t want to do business with you, either. Point blank.

P.S.S. With the Trump administration’s xenophobic rhetoric and policies, the work the National Immigration Law Center does is more important than ever. But this cause also hits close to home for me as a first generation American whose parents came to the US fleeing a civil war in Nicaragua in the 80’s. Sounds wild, right?

But growing up, I never fully understood the danger my parents were in until my dad told me about how he learned to shoot a gun as a child. I never fully understood until my dad told me how his entire family was almost killed during a raid where the guns they had hidden in their home were nearly discovered.

Both my parents and their families left everything behind to start from scratch here. My parents have worked their asses off and sacrificed more than you can imagine to provide a better life for me and my 3 younger brothers.

They are incredibly proud to be American citizens. But that wouldn’t have been possible without pro-immigration policies, which are currently under attack.

That’s why I chose this particular charity during Hispanic Heritage Month. In honor of my parents. In honor of all the people who come to the United States seeking a better life.
